How to perform

With arms bent 90 degrees, place forearms on a doorframe. Step one foot forward and gently lean forward, feeling a stretch in your chest and front shoulders. Hold, breathing deeply, then step back to release.

Muscles Worked

Mid ChestLower Chest
Secondary: Biceps

Tips

To prevent neck and shoulder strain, consciously relax your shoulders and draw them down away from your ears throughout the stretch, focusing on opening your chest. Maintain a straight back and engage your core to prevent arching or rounding, ensuring the stretch is felt primarily in your chest and front shoulders. Deep, controlled breathing helps to relax the muscles and deepen the stretch, so inhale deeply and exhale slowly while holding the position. Carefully control the depth of your lean to avoid overstretching or discomfort, stopping when you feel a moderate stretch without pain.
