Engage your core, tucking your belly button towards your spine. Exhale and lift your head, shoulders, and upper back off the mat. Rotate from your obliques as you reach one arm across your body towards the opposite foot. Squeeze your obliques at the peak and return slowly, resisting the band.
To effectively target your obliques, initiate the movement by consciously engaging them, feeling a slight twist in your torso as you begin the reach. Maintain a stable lower back by pressing it firmly into the mat throughout the exercise, preventing any arching or rocking. Aim to reach your shoulder towards your hip on each side, maximizing the oblique rotation and contraction. Carefully control the band's tension during both the reach and return phases, preventing momentum and ensuring a focused muscle effort. Throughout the entire movement, maintain a consistent core brace to stabilize your spine and enhance the effectiveness of the oblique engagement.
