Vertical flag hold

BackShouldersUpper armsAbs
🔧 Pole bars ↕ Push, Pull ⏱ sec Difficulty:

How to perform

Establish your hand placement on the pole with one hand positioned high and the opposite hand fixed directly below it, wrapping both thumbs fully while keeping your wrists completely neutral and your shoulders stacked. Step laterally away from the vertical anchor and lean your weight outward until your entire frame is oriented parallel to the pole, locking your legs together tightly and pointing your toes to create a sharp line. Lock down your midsection with absolute tension while simultaneously driving your lower arm into the pole and using your top arm to create a powerful counter-pulling force. Maintain this static suspension while breathing smoothly, keeping your shoulders packed firmly down away from your ears to prevent any shrugging or structural sagging. Terminate the hold by drawing your knees back toward the pole and lowering your feet toward the ground with a deliberate, slow cadence before releasing your grip.

Tips

Establish a secure hold by placing your top hand high on the vertical shaft and fixing your lower hand directly beneath it, wrapping both thumbs fully around the surface Keep both elbows completely locked out while pulling aggressively with your top arm and pushing forcefully with your lower arm to generate massive counter-tension Pack your shoulders firmly downward throughout the execution to prevent any shrugging or loss of structural stability around your neck Lock your entire frame into a rigid, plank-like plane parallel to the vertical anchor by clamping your glutes, firing up your lats, and bracing your core Exit the hold by smoothly drawing your knees inward toward the vertical support and letting your feet drift downward with a slow, deliberate cadence Allocate equal training volume to both sides of your body to iron out natural strength disparities and foster symmetrical development
