How to perform

Flex your toes toward your shin. Hinge forward at the hips, maintaining a straight back and lifted chest. Reach towards your ankle, shin, or toes until you feel a gentle hamstring stretch. Hold, breathing deeply, then slowly return upright. Repeat on the other leg.

Tips

To maximize the hamstring stretch, initiate the movement by hinging at your hips, rather than bending at the waist, which will help protect your lower back. Engage your core and maintain a straight back throughout the stretch, avoiding rounding or arching to ensure proper form and prevent injury. Actively flex your toes towards your shin to deepen the stretch in the hamstring muscle and improve flexibility. As you hinge forward, focus on reaching with your chest, not just your arms, to help maintain a stable and aligned posture. Consistent, deep breathing helps relax the muscles and allows for a more effective and comfortable stretch, so inhale as you prepare and exhale as you hinge forward.
