Advanced tuck back lever

Back
🔧 Pull up bar ⏱ sec Difficulty:

How to perform

Adjust the rings to waist or chest height, checking the straps and anchors thoroughly to ensure they are secure and free of obstructions before you begin. Take an overhand grip with your palms facing forward, hang with completely straight arms, and depress your shoulder blades to activate the upper back prior to movement. Draw your knees tightly up into your chest and pull your hips upward, focusing on rounding your shoulder blades forward while bracing your core and glutes. Extend your hips gradually until your thighs form a ninety-degree angle with your torso, keeping your back entirely flat and your arms locked out. Maintain this angled suspension while breathing evenly, terminating the hold immediately if your hips begin to sag or your lower back arches. Pull your knees back inward and guide your torso smoothly through the rings to return upright before lowering your feet safely back to the ground.

Tips

Round your upper back slightly by driving your shoulders forward and packing them down toward your waist right before you begin your descent Press your chin firmly against your chest to reinforce upper body stability and secure your alignment during the hold Keep your eyes fixed on the horizon ahead to easily monitor whether your torso has reached a completely horizontal position Establish a precise ninety-degree angle between your thighs and your torso, being careful not to open up any wider to avoid massive spikes in leverage Press the inner edges of your feet and knees together tightly while firing up your glutes and abdominals to safeguard against an arched lower back Flex your triceps with maximum effort to guarantee your arms stay entirely locked out, preventing the load from shifting to unintended joints Maintain a crushing grip on the rings if using them, keeping your lats active and pulling the straps tight against the sides of your torso as you lower down Focus on slow, controlled eccentric lowerings into the position to train your spatial awareness and build the necessary static strength
