How to perform

Establish a shoulder-width grip on the bar, fully extend your arms, and activate your upper back by drawing your shoulder blades down and back before pulling your knees tightly up into your chest. Pull through your upper back and core to pivot your entire torso upward until it rests completely horizontal, ensuring your elbows remain perfectly locked and your body stays still without any swinging. Lock into this inverted position by maintaining a flat back parallel to the floor, actively driving your hands into the bar while keeping your knees squeezed tightly against your torso. Return to the initial hanging position using a slow, deliberate descent, then re-engage your alignment and repeat the process to build maximum isometric strength.

Latissimus dorsi

Tips

Keep your arms completely locked out during the movement to isolate your lat muscles and prevent your biceps from taking over the load Engage your core actively throughout the entire hold to maintain a perfectly straight line from your shoulders to your hips and avoid arching your lower back Enter the lever slowly and under control using pure muscle strength instead of relying on momentum or swinging to get into position Depress and retract your shoulder blades firmly to activate your upper back muscles properly and shield your shoulder joints from excessive strain Keep your eyes focused forward or slightly upward to support natural neck posture and ensure correct overall body alignment
