How to perform

Step inside the trap bar frame, positioning your shins in line with or slightly forward of the weight sleeves. Hinge at your hips by driving your glutes backward, then bend your knees and grasp the handles with a firm, tight grip. Maintain a neutral spine with your eyes focused forward. Draw your shoulder blades together to build upper-back tension, and rotate your elbows so the insides face outward. Set your starting posture with your hips positioned lower than your shoulders before beginning the ascent. Drive hard through your feet to extend your legs and stand fully upright, locking out by squeezing your glutes at the top. Return the weight to the ground by hinging your hips back first, then flexing your knees to lower the bar under control.
