How to perform

Elevate the barbell to just below knee level. Stand with feet hip-width apart, mid-foot under the bar. Grip the bar with a shoulder-width overhand or mixed grip. Engage your core, keep your back straight, and hinge at the hips, bending your knees slightly. Lift by extending hips and knees, keeping the bar close to your body. Fully extend, squeezing glutes. Lower the bar to the blocks with control, hinging at the hips and bending your knees.

Tips

Maintain a straight back throughout the lift. Engage your core for stability. Keep the bar close to your body. Use a mixed grip if needed. Start with a manageable weight. Drive through your heels to engage your posterior chain.
