Shift weight to your standing leg, slightly bending the knee. Lift your working leg straight to the side, toes forward. Maintain a level hips and upright torso. Briefly pause at the top, engaging your outer hip. Lower the leg slowly and with control. Repeat on the other side.
To maintain balance and proper form, actively keep your hips level throughout the entire exercise, preventing any tilting or rotation. Point your toes forward during the lift to ensure you're targeting the outer hip muscles and avoiding unnecessary strain on your ankle. Engage your core muscles throughout the movement to stabilize your torso and prevent excessive swaying or leaning. Avoid leaning towards the standing leg; focus on keeping your torso upright and perpendicular to the floor to isolate the hip abduction. Lower the leg with slow, controlled movements to maximize muscle engagement and prevent momentum from taking over, really feeling the resistance.
