Brace your core, lift your chest, and exhale as you press handles forward, fully extending your arms without locking elbows. Squeeze your chest at the top, then inhale as you slowly return to the starting position, resisting the cables.
To maximize chest activation, focus on squeezing your pectoral muscles at the peak of the movement, feeling a strong contraction in the center of your chest. Actively pack your shoulder blades down and back throughout the exercise to maintain proper posture and prevent shoulder impingement, creating a stable base for the chest press. Keep your elbows slightly tucked towards your body to emphasize chest engagement and avoid putting unnecessary stress on your shoulder joints. Drive the movement through the mid-chest, visualizing pushing the handles towards your hands, ensuring a full and powerful contraction. Be mindful to avoid shrugging your shoulders during the press, as this shifts the focus to your upper traps and diminishes the chest workout.
