How to perform

Grip the handle and extend arms toward the pulley, rotating your torso. Engage your core and pull the handle diagonally down and across your body. Rotate your torso and pivot your back foot, keeping arms relatively straight. Finish with the handle near your opposite thigh. Control the return, resisting the cable pull and maintaining core tension. Switch sides after each set.

Tips

To effectively engage your core, initiate the movement by twisting your torso, rather than relying on your arm strength to pull the cable. Maintaining a neutral spine throughout the exercise is crucial for preventing lower back strain and ensuring proper engagement of your core muscles; imagine a straight line from your head to your hips. Focus on pivoting through your back foot to maximize the rotational movement and fully engage your obliques, rather than simply pulling with your arms. Keeping your arms relatively straight helps to isolate the torso rotation and prevents your biceps from taking over the movement, which is key to targeting your core. Remember to brace your abdominal muscles throughout the entire exercise to stabilize your spine and enhance core strength.
