Engage your core and maintain an upright torso. Extend your elbows to lower the V-bar until arms are straight. Squeeze your triceps at the bottom, then slowly return to the starting position, keeping elbows stable.
To protect your shoulder joints, keep your elbows close to your sides throughout the entire movement, preventing them from flaring outwards. Focus on contracting your triceps muscles forcefully at the bottom of the movement, as this is where the greatest amount of work is performed and will maximize muscle activation. Control the lowering (eccentric) phase of the exercise by resisting the weight's pull, which builds strength and muscle endurance while minimizing the risk of injury. Avoid using momentum or swinging your body to lift the weight, as this reduces the effectiveness of the exercise and can compromise your form.
