Lower dumbbell to your side, elbow at 45 degrees. Bend elbow to 90 degrees for a stretch, then exhale and press straight up to full extension. Squeeze your chest at the top, avoiding elbow lockout. Maintain a tight core to prevent torso rotation. Alternate sides.
To protect your shoulder joint and maximize chest activation, keep your elbows tucked at a 45-degree angle throughout the movement, ensuring a controlled path. Engage your core muscles throughout the exercise to stabilize your torso and prevent unwanted rotation, which can compromise form and increase risk of injury. Maintain a neutral grip on the dumbbell, avoiding excessive wrist flexion or extension, to ensure even force distribution and prevent strain. Press the dumbbell in a straight line, focusing on contracting your chest muscles rather than relying on momentum. Consciously squeeze your lower chest muscles at the top of the movement to enhance muscle engagement and achieve optimal results. Plant your feet firmly on the ground, maintaining a stable base of support, which will help you control the weight and prevent rocking or shifting during the exercise.
