How to perform

Step forward with one leg, lowering hips until both knees are bent at 90 degrees. Keep your torso upright as your trailing knee approaches the floor. Drive through your front heel to return to standing and step through to the next lunge, alternating legs as you move forward.

Muscles Worked

Glute Max
Secondary: Rectus Abdominis, Biceps Femoris, Adductor Magnus

Tips

Maintain an upright chest throughout the lunge to prevent leaning forward and protect your lower back, engaging your upper back muscles to support your posture. Imagine stepping along a set of tracks to ensure each step is controlled and consistent, minimizing lateral movement and maximizing forward progress. As you rise, powerfully drive through the front heel to fully extend your leg and engage your glutes, ensuring a strong and stable push-off. Actively tighten your core muscles throughout the exercise to stabilize your spine, improve balance, and transfer power efficiently from your lower body to your upper body.
