How to perform

Adjust an incline bench to a moderate angle, roughly 30 to 45 degrees. With a dumbbell in each hand, palms facing inward, recline on the bench, ensuring your feet are stable. Begin with your arms extended downwards, maintaining a slight bend in your elbows, and a braced core. As you lift the weights in a broad, sweeping motion, focus on contracting your shoulder muscles.

Tips

Focus on deliberate movements to truly activate the targeted muscles. Actively draw your shoulder blades together as you reach the highest point of the lift. Resist the urge to swing or use momentum; the exercise should be driven by your muscles. A slight bend in your elbows throughout the movement helps protect your joints. Keep your upper body pressed firmly against the bench for stability. Begin with a manageable weight to perfect your technique.
